Hey everyone, I'm sitting here at the computer in my parents' house in Tyler, TX. They're currently hounding me to get up and get moving so we can head down to Houston to the airport, but I'm stubbornly insisting on getting this blog up and running. All that's to say: this post will be short.
Around 8 tonight I'll get on a plane from Houston to Doha, Qatar. Do me a favor and check out that link... Doha is one of those awesome Gulf emirate cities with incredible modern architecture, lots of money and oil, and ridiculously hot desert weather. Now it should be no surprise that a direct flight from Texas to Arabia is going to be insanely long (think 13-14 hours), but fortunately, I will be flying in style.
Because of the time difference, I'll arrive in Doha around 7 tomorrow evening, have a five hour layover in a swanky Arab airport, and then fly out for Kochi, India late that night.
Kochi is pretty close to where I'll be staying, so when I arrive at 8 am on June 3, I will only have a couple of hours by car to Kottayam, where I'll be studying.
In my next post, once I'm on the ground in India, I'll update everyone who is still unaware on a few more of the details of what I'll be doing there, what gave me the idea to go, and some of my first impressions.
Keep checking back for more updates!
Pinne kaanam (Goodbye)!
